Hva skjer når vi tvinges til å bryte med det vante? Når vi må lage nye mønstre og forlate de gamle? Finnes lykken bare i det vi har lagt bak oss? Anton Tsjekhovs klassiker Kirsebærhagen stiller spørsmål om menneskets forhold til nostalgi; hvordan vi romantiserer det fortidige og aldri klarer å være tilstede i øyeblikket. Når Roskva kommer tilbake til familiegodset etter et lengre opphold i Paris blir hun underrettet om det hun allerede vet, men ikke ønsker å erkjenne: at hun er rammet av økonomisk fallitt og må selge godset og ikke minst den høyt elskede kirsebærhagen. Minnene som har festet seg i vegger og tak, møbler og gjenstander skal viskes vekk fra tilværelsens overflate, og familie og venner samles for å sammen håndtere situasjonen.

Regissør Ann-Elisabeth Lande, installasjonskunstner Inger-Marie Thorkildsen og Smitte har sammen utviklet konseptet og bearbeidet, innstrammet og til dels modernisert Tsjekhovs opprinnelige tekst for å løfte frem og forsterke dimensjoner som relaterer seg til vår samtid. Vi fotograferer, skriver blogger og lager nettprofiler for å forsikre oss om at vi dokumenteres inn i evigheten. Vi masseproduserer nostalgi istedet for å lese verden rundt oss slik den faktisk er. I så måte blir Tsjekhovs tekst om overgangen fra føydalsamfunn til kapitalisme symptomatisk for en tilstand der vi blindes av gjenstander.

Prospekt: Kirsebærhagen er dels en komedie, dels et drama, i grenselandet mellom det realistiske og teatrale. Den foregår i vår samtid, men gjestes til stadighet av fortiden.

Inger-Marie Thorkildsen står ansvarlig for forestillingens distinkte formspråk. Ved bruk av tau blir konturene av godset tegnet i rommet og dette installeres mot en projisering av kirsebærhagen.

Perkusjonist André Fjørtoft fra Det Norske Blåseensemble står for lydbildet.

Medvirkende i stykket er: Frank Skovrand, Morten Milde Veronika Mittet, Roskva Koritzinsky, Kim Fangen, Dina C. Nordsjø, Marianne S. Thoresen, Kjetil Ravneng, Terje Brevik.

Kompani Teaterprinsessa holder hus i Halden og ble etablert i 2000. Teaterprinsessa har tidligere satt opp Yvonne. Prinsesse av Burgund, Festen og Re: Glassmenasjeriet i 2007.

Prospekt: Kirsebærhagen vil ha premiere i Black Box 18. mars og spilles 19/3, 20/3, 23/3, 24/3 og 25/3.

Kompani Teaterprinsessa (Theater Princess Company) is setting up The Cherry Orchard by Anton Chekhov in the Black Box Theater in Halden, Norway. Smitte is invited to contribute with various tasks around the play;

Actors, musicians, writers and visual artists connected to Smitte have recently begun preparations in the small Twin Peaksian town of Halden.

Approx 2 meters wide printed versions of these photos was hanging in a narco-nest-looking room in the inner dorms of the facilities. Two sacco-bags were on the floor in front of a TV playing a clip from the Norwegian morning TV-show God Morgen Norge! (Good Morning Norway!)

Sadly, some students that occupied the facilities in what was meant as an collaboration, fucked them both up during a party. An example of Norwegian drinking habits and poor education of the soul. Smitte found the incident somewhat poetic seen related to the surrounding concept of the exhibition.

God Morgen Norge! was a kind of festival in the middle of the main street in Halden, Norway. Smitte borrowed some broke down facilities from a rel estate-shark and got dead drunk whilst spontaneously arranging field study-trips in Halden, constructing the concept. The facilities were quite big and we filled it with images from the local newspaper, Smittes poster collection, some images was painted, walls were filled with coloring-book-like drawings for the public to color, we had a beach (called Tsunami”on the floor filled with used condoms, beer-bottles, seeweds, flees and garbage. Big windows facing the main street were filled with introverted writings and large drawings with typical motifs and situations often described with the Norwegian word and state of mind “hygge” (eng: cosy).

Bands such as Nanny´s Super Tricks and Now&Sleep gave wonderful concerts and we published a compendium that can be downloaded HERE (Only in Norwegian)

It was an interesting week although few besides our friends, some drunks and neurotics and of course..the students from the town college referred to above, entered the show despite the great location. Curiosity kills the cat.

Kadimah feat: Espen Holtan,FINAL & Glenn Vidar Solheim

concert @Vrangsiden during the inter-disiplinary festival Tornado in Halden, Norway, 2008

Kadimah rarely plays concerts and their concept is based on avoiding rehearsals and rather improvise on the base discussion around their individual interests. Kadimah co-work with artists, musicians and actors such as Final, Cecilie Jørstad og Dj Lost. Kadimah was also employed at Teater Ibsen in a period in 2003 where they improvised sound and music to av The Tell-Tale Heart by Edgar Allan Poe together with Kyrre Hellum og Tone Mostraum.
